THE ENGRAVING PROCESS
Each piece is the result of a manual process that goes from drawing to printing.
01 —
Drawing and carving
The pieces can start from a sketch, although Eduardo Robledo sometimes draws directly onto the linoleum. From there, the image is created through manual carving with gouges, removing the areas that will remain white and leaving in relief those that will receive the ink.
02 —
Inking and preparation
The plate is inked with a roller, distributing the ink evenly over the raised surface. Afterwards, it is placed in the press and covered with pre-moistened paper. This way, everything is prepared for the impression to transfer the image with precision and reveal every detail.
03 —
Print
The printing press is turned steadily, exerting a firm and controlled pressure that transfers the image to the paper. Finally, the print is carefully removed, revealing the impression and preventing any smudges or displacement.
04 —
Editing and signing
Each print is individually inspected. Those that pass are numbered and hand-signed by Eduardo. Editions vary by piece — some are 20 prints, others reach 200 — but each print carries the unique variations of the manual process.
